Ben was definitely a Lion in a Lion sandwich at the West Vale Yorkshire vets race 2014. From our Stainland Lions, Johnathan Taylor, Steve Hallam a few places in front. Sandy Gee, Steve Crowther 2 & 3 places behind. I finished in 22nd and I certainly remember Ben in this pack, cheering them all across the line. Looking at Abbey Dash, London Marathon we were doing the same races a few years ago. I heard about his loss last year and was saddened, especially given how young he was. As for me, 33 hours after finishing London Marathon 2015 in in 2 hrs 59 I suffered a brain bleed causing a tonic clonic seizure. Eventually this was identified as a Glioblastoma IV and removed in November with all the Chemotherapy and Radiology, etc. since. Going forwards, the positives of Ben to me are not just his running but the 8 years life since diagnosis. From my knowledge this is more by many multiples than any medical staff I have spoken to. I feel bad at times but when I look at how Ben was especially his achievements in BMX and athletics I see hope and a lot of good light ahead as positives. I am back out at parkrun doing it, showing it and thinking of Ben. David Hutchings Stainland Lions
